Quit Smoking - 6 Session Course

The 6 session quit smoking course has been designed for those who would find it easier to gradually reduce the amount of cigarettes smoked rather than experience the dramatic change in one day. This typically suits someone who has been smoking for a long period of time, where it has become a way of life or just the norm.

No matter how long you have smoked for, it is completely possible to stop.

I’m Garry, I smoked for twenty five years and haven’t touched one for over ten years. I don’t preach or judge, I just know that it’s possible and the course works.

What to Expect

Initially we explore the triggers for smoking and any emotional attachment to the habit. There will be homework to do and records to keep. The more committed you are the more likely that the course will help you. If you don’t truly want to quit, you won’t, irrespective of any treatment. We will be working to remove the desire to smoke rather than just replace it with an alternative. We don’t want a smoking habit to turn into vaping or binge eating, that won’t help anybody.

Whilst the course will be tailored to your individual needs it would usually follow the following structure:

Session 1 - Understanding the triggers
Session 2 - You are in control
Session 3 - Managing Habits
Session 4 - Maintaining your progress
Session 5 - Don’t look back
Session 6 - You are a non-smoker

Quit Smoking - Single Session

What to Expect

Mind Work also offers a single session Quit Smoking Course.

This course is more suited to smokers who feel ready to stop smoking TODAY.

The session typically lasts between 90 minutes and 2 hours and will enable you to leave the therapy room as a confident non-smoker.

As with the 6 session course, we explore your smoking triggers and reasons for smoking.

We will then use these to form a personalised session to encourage you to stop completely.

After the session, you will be sent 2 mp3 recordings to listen to for the next few weeks, in order to cement the work we have done in the session.

In some cases a second session might be required in order to help deal with stress, if stress was a smoking trigger or other issues that might want to be dealt with as a non-smoker.

Weight Loss Course - 4 Sessions

Hypno Gastic Band Course - 5 Sessions

The Hypno Gastirc Band (HGB) Course has been designed to replicate the experience and effect of Gastric Band Surgery but without the associated risks or complications of actual surgery.

Upon successful completion of the course, you will eat smaller portions of food, feel full quicker and for much longer, therefore aiding weight loss and weight management.

As with all courses, your commitment is required to enjoy the most effective change. The course is set out over a five-week period with a one-hour session each week. The treatment will be via hypnotherapy with some food diary logs to be completed between sessions.

The course is typically conducted in the following format:

Session 1 – Initial Consultation

We carry out an assessment to enable us to tailor the plan to meet your individual needs. A food/drink diary is given along with an information sheet which explains the HGB process. The session concludes with a hypnotherapy session.

Session 2 – Preparation Session

Your food/drink diaries are reviewed and any changes to your eating habits following the treatment are discussed. The hypnotic operation (not a physical operation) is discussed and then followed by a hypnotherapy session.

Session 3 – The Hypnotic Operation

In this session your subconscious mind is guided through the operation of having a gastric band fitted and inflated. You will understand the purpose and role of the gastric band and your subconscious will experience the surgery of it being put in place. (There is no actual surgery, the gastric band exists only in your sub conscious mind and is not actually in place). The required diet changes following the hypno-surgery are discussed.

Session 4 – Review and Band Adjustment

As with actual gastric bands, adjustments are needed to ensure that they are allowing the correct amount of food to remain in the small stomach pouch that they create. Your post hypno-operation diet will be reviewed and adjusted accordingly, and a hypnotherapy session conducted to guide you through your recovery.

Session 5 – Review and Band Adjustment

As with session four, your recovery diet progression is discussed and any adjustments to the band made. The new changes to your eating habits and lifestyle are confirmed in a hypnotherapy session and continued food/drink diaries arranged.

 

Further sessions can be arranged if there are changes in circumstances which interrupt the new healthier eating and drinking patterns.

Important Information

Restrictions for Hyno-Gastro-Band Therapy are:

  • BMI should be greater than 40 or between 30-40 and have an obesity related condition.

  • More than 7 stone in excess of estimated ideal weight

  • Aged 18 or over

  • Other attempts at long term weight loss have been unsuccessful

  • Agree to comply with instructions for long term lifestyle and dietary changes

  • Agree to attend follow-up appointments

  • Acknowledge that hypnotherapy is not a miracle cure and requires commitment by the client

  • Informed consent given by the client in writing.
